The Feldmann family has departed on their great family bicycle touring adventure across Canada. On a regular basis I will be checking in with the family to see how their tour is going and to ask them some questions about their adventure.
This time Tristan tells us about his discoveries after a month of adventure on the road!
You've been touring for a month now. What are two memories you have made?
Wild camping on Kootenay Lake when dad was helping me have a bath. It was so cold. I screamed like a pig, but I was laughing lots too.
My second memory was the visit to the Miltow Hutterite Colony. That was interesting!
Other than water, what is your favorite drink on tour?
Mug Rootbeer and I hope I might win an iPod.
What is a new food you've tried on tour?
Gelato ice cream from Moose Jaw. I had a strawberry and mixed berry cone. You don't get fat because it's low in fat compared to normal ice cream.
Have you seen any unique cars on the highways?
I saw a pinkish purple old Mini Cooper, and I've seen a yellow Porche Boxster S car.
Did you bring any special things with you on tour?
Yes, my dog Ewee, and my elephant Elly. They wear harnesses and are strapped to the back behind my seat, on top of my sleeping bag.
What's the weirdest weather you've experienced so far?
In Herbert, Day 30, the wind was so strong that it knocked mom and me off our bikes. It pushed from the side. We weren't going too fast, but it was strong. Soon after we turned around and got a motel room.
Any other comments?
I like Marion's (our Regina hostess) pancakes, with fresh strawberries and maple syrup.
