The book is a very powerful and important part of the Bicycle Touring 101 logo.

It represents the sharing of knowledge, something that hopefully each author is aspiring to do in each of the books that are showcased here.

Getting away and enjoying a bicycle touring adventure is a wonderful thing indeed but sometimes you can't get the time to leave. Still you would love to be transported away if only for a few minutes. While it's my sincere hope that this web site gives you a daily bicycle touring buzz another nice way to get away is to open up a book and read about someone else's tour or to find a book related to bicycle touring that helps you to prepare for your next one.

This section of the Bicycle Touring 101 web site will discuss books related to bicycle touring. Some books, like Neil Anderson's Partners in Grime, are published tour reports that give you a chance to see parts of the world through the author's eyes. Other books will be more technical in nature and cover things like bear safety or how to prepare for your tour.

Both types of books will be reviewed in this section. As always the opinions expressed in the review are mine and they are not paid reviews either. Each page will have an area where comments from other readers of the books can go as well so please feel free to contact me with your comments if you would like to add them to the review. Also feel free to recommend books for review.

Don't forget that any quotes you make to the web site are considered to be contributions to the web site as well. Not only are you helping to make the web site better but you are also qualifying for contributor status.

Hopefully you will notice one additional thing about each page. Whenever possible I will be including a link on the page to the author's web site where you can find out more about the book and purchase the book directly from the author. I do this because while you will often pay the same price at the author's site as you do elsewhere, the author ends up keeping more of the money for themselves which in turn hopefully encourages them to write some more fascinating stories about bicycle touring for us to read!

As time passes I hope to interview as many of these authors as possible to give you a bit more information about their bicycle touring experiences.
